| | 〈〈 ↢ ♈ ↣ 〉〉Nightfall was descending upon Ikebukuro. By this time, many of the working folk in the city had made their way home and everything was starting to quiet down. It was a fair night, the sky clear of clouds and the temperature mild.
The perfect conditions for an evening stroll through the park...
Nemon thought to herself with a smile. In fact, she thought the weather was so nice that she had changed her usual attire. It wasn't often she swapped out her leggings and skirt for a pair of shorts, but breaking the norm every once in awhile couldn't hurt~ She walked silently through the grass, having chosen to go barefoot. The green carpet was glistening in the rising moonlight, fresh with due from the early morning's rain. The soft wetness felt cool against her bare feet and offered her a slight sense of relaxation as her pine tinted eyes took in the familiar scenery.
After a few minutes of walking and finding nothing to spark her interest, she leaned back against a nearby tree, taking a rest. Her hands sitting in the pockets of her red shorts, she raised her eyes up to the starry sky, studying the shining moon and burning beauties from millions of miles away. Seconds later, her thoughts were interrupted by a sudden rustling above, a twitch of her ears. Her eyes narrowed as she keyed in on the sound.
"Jagger..? Is that you?"
The small creature that ventured out of leaves was indeed not her bushy tailed companion. It may have also been a squirrel, but no nut-loving rodent besides her self-proclaimed pet would get any mercy out of Kuraikara Nemon. With a quiet growl, she turned around and padded to the back of the tree, assuming her canine form. Her fiery colored pelt was hidden well in the shadows as she made her silent ascent to the branches above. As she crouched upon the branch of her prey, she sneaked slowly forward...dangerous, focused on nothing but her prey...ready to make her final and fatal move... In the midst of the hunt, her mind had been completely wiped of the facts that were so terribly obvious only moments before. The morning rain had made the branches slick with dew. As she moved to take her final step forward, her front paw caught the exposed edges of the branch. She instantly lost her balance and slipped off, falling onto the hard sidewalk below.
She let out a sharp yelp of surprise as she fell, whimpering when she heard the sickening crack of bone. Her frontal right leg was broken. She was sure of it. The pain had flared up her entire limb like nothing she'd experienced before. She cursed to herself in thought, knowing she would now be stuck in this form until the bone healed. Changing back would cause shifting in her skeletal structure and possibly worsen the injury. She prayed someone was around, even though she preferred not having human interaction in this form; this time she needed help...desperately.〈〈 ↢ ♈ ↣ 〉〉

It was night walks like these that Psyche loved most. He was a night owl, waking up in the late evening to start his day, or rather his night, fresh and ready to go. His entire sleep schedule was backwards due to him working late shifts at the club. He didn't mind it all too much, except for the fact Tsugaru worked during the day, so they rarely saw each other at home unless one had the day off. But they made their time.
Like tonight. Tsugaru had taken the day off to rest up and accompany Psyche at the club. The raven knew that Tsugaru wasn't extremely fond of the tight crowds, loud music, and most importantly the alcohol. God only knows what happened last time he was drunk. Normally Psyche wouldn't ask Tsugaru to join him, but he was always happy when he did. It gave him a break from running around managing the place. He could focus on spending quality time with his boyfriend.
Tonight, Psyche suggested they cut through the park. He always felt safer concealed in the shadows of the trees than out on the main streets. Plus it was more beautiful on a clear night such as this.
The bubbly brunet held Tsugaru's hand, their fingers woven together comfortably as they walked side by side. He loved this. Being here with Tsugaru. He couldn't possibly be happier.
A sharp yelp pierced the quite night, causing Psyche to scream and jump. He flung himself into Tsugaru's arms, seeking comfort and protection from whoever, or whatever, let out that terrible noise.
"T-T-Tsu-chan! Did you hear that?!"
A redundant question. But what else can you expect from a terrified young man?
Psyche's over-imaginative mind was spiralling out of control. He was imagining monsters and murderers jumping out to attack him and Tsugaru. He had no doubt the blond could protect himself. But he was an easy target for anyone who wanted him. To put it simply, Psyche was skin and bones - and of course, filled with desserts. He was like a pinata; colorful, frail, and filled with tooth rotting sweets. Easy pickings for a psychopath.

Tsugaru had in fact heard the crack, although he had written it off at first as his ears finally regaining the ability of sound. How Psyche could ever work in such a business. Clubs were so loud. There was so many problems and dilemmas going on about every fifteen feet. Not to mention the grinding bodies, the sickening scent of every type of perfume sold in the city.
Then the drunks…
But Psyche’s clinging and question made him focus back in. He pulled the brunet close to him and looked around a bit.
“It sounded like it came from over there.” He wasn’t absolutely sure though. His ears were still ringing. No doubt he would be suffering the incessant sound all evening. It sounded otherwise quiet though. If it had been some kind of lunatic, they probably confused him for a certain someone and went running.
“Relax Psyche. It was probably just a squirrel or animal.”

He clung to Tsugaru, moving slowly beside him as they walked closer to where the sound came from. He heard rustling ahead and yelped again with panic. But he kept reminding himself of what Tsugaru said...squirrel or some other animal...yeah, that was more likely...
His curiosity was taking over. If it was an animal...maybe it was hurt? Nothing cried like that unless it was injured or in danger. He squeezed Tsugaru's hand, guiding him as he followed where the rustling was coming from. His heart was pounding in his chest, but he know that Tsugaru would protect him if it wasn't some hurt creature.
"Where do you think it went?" he asked quietly, trying to stay as silent as possible. He didn't want to scare it off..

| Mikado had lost track of time. He underestimated the city again, although he’d been living there for a little more than a year already. Hanging out at Sunshine City was all fun and all…but now it was late, not to mention dark and dangerous. Hadn’t Masaomi told him to stay out of trouble as much as possible?
The blue eyed teen laughed. It was too late for that. Much too late.
Sighing and rubbing the bandages on his arms, he found himself venturing into South Ikebukuro Park. He wasn’t lost, god no…but he faintly remembered a short cut through the park would cut the time to return to his apartment in half.
The city was bright, but you never know what could be hiding in its shadows…
Mikado walked briskly on the path, idly checking his phone for any updates on Dollars.
But that was when he heard it.
A yelp. And a sound of something moving, falling.
He should ignore it. It’s not his business after all; it was probably some animal or something.
The teenager almost did just that, almost continued staring at the bright red cell-phone screen when he noticed an odd pair of people ahead of him. They looked a lot like Izaya and Shizuo…but definitely did not act or dress like them. He tilted his head in thought before snapping his phone shut.
Apparently, the odd pair heard the strange noise too.
Mikado had decided that Dollars could wait for a little; these people and the strange sound was definitely an interesting affair, one that had caught his interest.
The student walked closer in time to hear the dark-haired man mutter something to his companion, "Where do you think it went?"
Mikado blinked and proceeded forward, plastering on a nervous smile. “U-umm…I heard something around here too...do you think an animal is hurt?” |

Tsugaru turned to see a young man walking up to them, he shook his head.
"It must be a wounded animal.”
And by the sounds of it, the poor creature needed some serious medical attention. He moved forward, debating a moment on whether to leave Psyche with the boy before his worries got the best of him.
If this was some kind of prank or mugging attempt, he didn’t want to be separated from Psyche’s side. It would be harder to keep him safe with him away. “Coming Psyche,” he looked over towards the brunet to see if he was okay with following him when his eyes caught sight of a movement underneath a nearby park bench. His gaze became glued there, watching to see what the person or animal behind those eyes would do.

| | 〈〈 ↢ ♈ ↣ 〉〉Had she not been so badly injured, meeting the eyes of a stranger would have stirred the girl to give the group a cheerful greeting in her human form. But sadly, the only emotions she could pull out in her canine appearance at that moment were fear, pain, and caution. Her pine colored irises locked with the blue eyes of the blonde man for several seconds. She remained completely still as such until she finally closed her eyes, breaking his stare. Just like any animal would be expected to do, she shrunk further into the shadows under the park bench, attempting to drive the man off with her wary nature.
Once again, her eyes opened, this time flashing back and forth from the blonde to the two other males who were with him. Her gaze narrowed in suspicion.
Have they noticed me yet? If they have...I won't be able to make a getaway... Perhaps it's for the best...
Nemon took her attention to her injured leg once more, delicately licking off some of the blood. She had watched these people long enough to assume they weren't dangerous, especially the school boy. His presence gave her a feeling that this couple meant her no harm. After all, what kind of high-schooler was stupid enough to approach a pair of completely random strangers? They seemed kind...but it never hurt to be careful.
Swallowing her fears, the she-wolf slowly backed herself out from under the bench, standing behind it instead. If she showed she was harmless, they might prove to do the same in return. She sat upon the ground, holding her injured leg suspended just above it, and gave a sort of greeting nod to the blonde, giving him her permission to approach her if he wished.
If not for the bloodied limb, she would have been a truly stunning sight. Her fiery red fur was a rare sight and her silvery-white stretches, across her chest, face, underbelly, tail, and forelimbs, seemed to glimmer slightly in the moonlight. She was well groomed, though slightly unkempt from her recent activities, and had a lean figure, made for speed. She did her best to hide her bleeding wound by wrapping her tail around her front, but it did little good. If they meant to threaten her, now was their chance.〈〈 ↢ ♈ ↣ 〉〉

Psyche jumped slightly when he heard the high-schooler come up from behind. But when he saw that it wasn't some attacker or threat, he smiled shyly. He felt Tsugaru leaving him their, causing his anxiety to stir. When he heard Tsugaru ask if he was coming along, it took all of his strength not to chase after him.
"Y-yeah, I'm co-?" his voice broke off when he saw Tsugaru staring intently under a bench. He narrowed his eyes, trying to see better. He flinched slightly from surprise when he saw those gleaming eyes underneath. He huddled close to Tsugaru, hiding behind him as he peered over his shoulder.
"What do you think it is?" He was curious, that was for sure. But he was cautious. He wasn't sure if the hurt animal was dangerous or angry. Although it didn't seem to be very angry, if not more wary. When it felt safe enough to come out of the shadows, Psyche was amazed at how beautiful it was.
At that moment, all of his previous fears melted away and he was drawn to her gorgeous pelt, gleaming eyes, and over all demeanor. He stepped around Tsugaru, walking up slowly toward her with his arm slightly out stretched, "Hey there...c'mere boy...girl...you..." he cooed, trying to coax the wolf-like creature to come closer.

| | 〈〈 ↢ ♈ ↣ 〉〉Nemon was a bit hesitant to approach the brunet as he called her forward. Not only were her instincts screaming at her to leave and find a better hiding place, away from the humans, but she was also unsteady on her feet. It was the first time she'd ever walked around on three legs, and the task had proven more difficult than she anticipated it would ever be. However, there was a certain tone to the brunet's call that relaxed her fears, quieting her instinctual tendencies so that she could make her decision whether to accept his invitation or not on her own.
Slowly and carefully, the wolf made her may over to him, making sure to put as little weight through her injured limb as she could. At first, she stood a short distance away to be sure it was safe. Then, once she had deemed him harmless, she finally padded up to his outstretched hand. It took her a few moments to contemplate what to do next. A normal dog would probably just sniff or lick a kind stranger's hand, but this special canine was nowhere near normal. She was also human. She had the intelligence that other creatures lacked - and she wouldn't be shy to prove it.
I know just what to do~!
With the wolfish equivalent of a grin, the girl looked up into the brunet's eyes, locking the sharp colors of fuchsia and pine together so that he could better understand her greeting. Her gaze seemed to say 'hello' as she sat once more before him and lifted her good paw. She placed it in his open palm as if she would have shaken his hand. Her tail swished slowly across the grass in smooth strokes, relieving some of her built up tension from her nervousness towards their meeting - all of which, had now faded away.〈〈 ↢ ♈ ↣ 〉〉

| Masaomi yawned as he walked down the empty sidewalk. He wasn't too sure about how long he had been on this little walk of his, all he knew is that he was getting close to South Ikebukuro Park. Checking his phone, he sighed and prepared to walk past the park and head home for some sleep. However when he had heard a certain information broker's voice, his body froze, foot still in the air. He looked to his left to see not only the infamous male, but also Shizuo Heiwajima and his best friend. There was thing that left him completely stunned in this image, causing him to completely forget about Nemon. 'Since when can those two get along?!' he thought. Masaomi was completely confused as he walked towards the three. | |
