Smile and wave

That's all he had to do was just smile and wave and stand there and look pretty, The sounds of screams and cheer's almost unbearable. In the usually quiet park of South Ikebukuro Mistero Nightingale stood upon the make shift stage for the promotional photo shoot and fashion show. The company had decided to host it here since a large amount of people passed through this area of Ikebukuro and it housed enough space to accommodate everyone who bought a ticket. Mistero hated it. Too many people and too many things to go wrong, he had his fill of noise every day as it was. If it wasn’t a flying vending machine and some maniac’s fighting on the streets below his pent house it was some kind of gang war.

He almost was sick of it and more than once questioned why he’d even decided to settle down in Ikebukuro. As he gazed past his partially parted bangs are the crowd he just wanted this to be over. Enough of the flashing lights and screaming fans he wanted to go home and skip the after party. His wish was quickly granted too because next thing he knew he was being ushered off stage and towards the awaiting limo. It’s long sleek black form parked at the edge of the park. Stopping only once or twice to sign some fans note books he quickly got into the back seat of the car, his agent following quickly. Once the door was closed Mistero reached up and began to remove the ear plugs from his ears.

“Wearing those again huh?”

“It’s not like I have to listen to what you’re saying” stated the blonde tossing the used item into the trash bin located by the minibar. “No you don’t but you should at least listen to your fans” “Their so loud I can’t understand them anyways.” He sighed resting his head back and slouching in his seat only to receive a swift swat, “You’ll ruin your poster if you slouch” “hit me again and I’ll ruin your hands” “Ya like that threat isn’t old”.

Mistero frowned and sat up straight again and looked out the window, “Are you skipping the after party again.” Asked his agent, “Ya…they are boring…I can’t even drink alcohol at the events because it ruins my image” he said as the car began to roll to a halt outside his apartment. “You really disappoint your fans” “Tell that to my agent” he shot back only to earn a laugh as he opened the door and got out.

“See you tomo-“ Mistero’s sentence was cut off quickly as he ran face first into something and fell down landing hard upon the sidewalk, “Hey watch where you’re going!” he yelled at the stranger.

Meese yawned, it was late. He was tired as hell, it had been a long day and he had to do overtime at the butler cafe. After work, he was too tired to change back into his normal clothes so he had just walked home in his tail coat and mouse ears. "Uwaaaah!" Meese yelped girlishly, as he fell onto the sidewalk on his back.

"I-I'm sorry, I-I didn't see you there!" he cried with a flustered face and flailed his arms a bit, as if flailing could show sincerity. He was hoping this person would forgive him. He didn't need anyone getting mad at him. "I-I'm really sorry, I-I didn't mean to run into you! I-I had overtime at work you see, s-so I-I'm a bit tired and d-didn't really pay attention t-to where I-I was going..." he rambled.

'Gaaah, I must either sound like a moe or a girl,' he thought as he kept ranting about why he didn't mean to run into this person.

Mistero frowned as his agent got out of the limo and came round to help him up. He dusted himself off as this stranger rambled. Overtime, tired? who was this kid kidding? He probably had it easy working at what he assumed was a cafe. "Don't kid yourself you don't know what it means to work yet" he said rather coldly. Mistero wasn't one to beat around the bush when things like this were said. Hell he didn't even pretend to be nice! If he was sincerly upset he let people know.

"Now now Mist be kind he's just a kid no harm done see" his agent tried to consol him and smooth the situation over.

"Whatever" Mistero hissed and began to make his way into the building.

The Agent sighed," its okay don't worry about him. He's just grouchy he's been dealing with photoshoots all day" said the agent helping Meese up as well," can I give you a lift anywhere as apology for his attitude?"

Meese shook his head as he brushed himself off and picked up his things. "It's fine," he said modestly. "My apartment isn't that far anyways." He blinked, recalling what the man had said.

"Wait, what do you mean by photo shoots? Is he some kind of model or something?" he asked curiously.

"Alright..." said the Agent apologetically.

When Meese questioned what Mistero did the Agent almost fell over in surprise, "You haven't heard of Mistero Nightingale? The top model in Japan as of current!" the agent was really surprised now, even one person not knowing who Mistero is, was completely unacceptable. Whipping out his appointment booklet Mistero’s agent began to scribble down an address and pulled out a ticket and backstage pass, “Here you are! “ he said shoving the items into Meese’s hands. “I won’t let you go without even the slightest apology, here is a backstage pass for tomorrows fashion show and complimentary lunch with Mistero!” he smiled,” name Gabe by the way…Gabe jones” he said before getting into the limo again and shushing any possible protests from Meese.

Meanwhile Mistero flopped down upon his long white sectional couch a strawberry smoothie in hand and wearing just his jeans that hung low on his hips. He ran his hand through his hair with a soft sigh water droplets falling from the tips of his hair and running down his bare skin. He liked to model it was exhilarating being the center of attention because of the clothes he wore, but he hated the noise and fuss of the job. He was still slight miffed at kid he’d knocked into downstairs though and it almost made him want to laugh hysterically at him for saying he was tired. As he mused over these thoughts he saw a vending machine go flying over top of the buildings and chuckled…whoever threw those things he really needed to meet one day.

Meese stood there for a bit, trying to take in what had just happened. He looked at the items he was just given. He didn't exactly listen to what was popular, or forgot what was most of the time. It was easy to say that he was caught off guard when the man (...Gabe, was it?) gave him the ticket, pass, and paper. Then he remembered his that he had to work tomorrow and sighed. Tomorrow was going to be tiring.

He yawned as he continued his walk home. When he returned to his small, one bedroom apartment, he simply dumped his clothes on the couch and changed for bed, throwing his work uniform on a hanger. He collapsed onto his bed, a bit anxious about tomorrow. 'It'd be rude if I don't go or give the ticket to my co-worker. . .' he stared at the ceiling. 'Hopefully I don't have to do overtime again tomorrow. . .' he thought as he turned onto his side and fell asleep.

When morning came Mistero immediately wanted to go back to sleep. “Wake up wake up! “Grinned Gabe at Mistero whose head immediately fell underneath the covers again, “go away” he muttered. Only to have the covers pulled off, “come on! No time to waste it’s already 7:30 and we have only 4 ½ hours to get you all pretty for the fashion show!” said Gabe as he opened the curtains and began to go about grabbing Mistero some clothes. “Don’t worry about eating, you can eat at the hair dressers” he said as Mistero sat up groggily reaching for his rings and tiara, “and you have lunch scheduled with that young man you knocked into last nig-“

“What?!” now he had Mistero’s attention “That mouse that knocked me down!”

“Yes the mouse that knocked you down” said Gabe coming over and yanking a T-shirt onto Mistero who blinked, “Why!” “Because Mist you can’t yell at someone and think it’s okay so buck up and lets go” said Gabe turning and walking out of the apartment. Mistero on the other hand groaned and trudged after, this was going to be a long day.

Meese sneezed. 'I wonder who's talking about me. . .' he thought. He quickly shrugged it off and kept working. The cafe wasn't as busy, but they still had a decent amount of customers. He still had about four hours till the fashion show, so he might as well finish his shift before going.

He managed to finish his shift without having to do overtime and without his co-workers teasing him. Although when he had told his friend, who also worked at the cafe, about what had happened last night, he simply poked Nezumisu's cheeks and teased him about being a "stereotypical doujin moe" ...Whatever that meant. He changed out of his tail coat and into his street clothes, then headed over to where the fashion show was supposed to be. 'I wonder what it's going to be like. . .' he thought to himself as he walked down the sidewalk. 'I've never been to something like this before. . .'

The fashion show was definitely hard to miss, cars lined the streets leading up to the event and the sounds of people cheering and talking could be heard, several interviewers were trudging around camera man in tow and interviewing some people dressed in extravagant outfits asking them why there were there or some non-sense. The flash of the cameras were almost blinding and the noise deafening.

When Meese got close to the event he was stopped by a security guard, “Ticket?” he questioned in a gruff burly voice.

“Hold still Mistero” said the make-up artist as she tilted his chin up and began to paint his lips black, another make-up artist was painting his nails in a fresh coat of black and one working on piecing out his hair. A natural routine that befell him majority of the time and a routine he was used too. Soon he was released from their clutches and thrust into the hands of the designers who began to decide which outfit he would start with. “Looking good Mist! “Said Gabe giving a thumbs up “Fabulous!”

“Sure…let’s just get this over with” he said letting the designer help him dress so the outfit would look right.

Meese dug through his pocket and presented the guard with the ticket Gabe had given him last night. He was wished that he had been able to bring a friend with him, it would definitely have made this experience a lot less scarier than it was. He wasn't only intimidated by the security guard, everybody here was pretty intimidating.

He felt out of place. Everybody here was dressed so extravagantly and here he stood in a simple pair of short, white t-shirt, red and green flannel, and yellow high tops. Nezumisu considered plugging his ear and wearing sunglasses. The flashes were like looking into the sun and the noise was equivalent to everyone in the cafe screaming at the top of their lungs on a busy day.

'I kinda want to go home now. . .' he thought.

He rubbed his eyes, trying to get them to adjust to the lights as the security guard gave him his ticket back. The man had given him instructions on where to go, adding an expected "enjoy the show" at the end. Meese barely heard him due to all the screaming, he was able to pick out all the important parts though. He nodded, walking into venue with his hands in his pockets. 'I really hope this thing isn't too long. . .' he thought with a sigh.

It wasn’t too long after Meese found his seat that the loud voice blared over the speakers and a man wearing too flashy of clothing walked out on stage. He looked like an American fashion designer trying to make in Japanese design. “ARE YOU READY!!!” he screamed in accented English and the crowds around Meese erupted in cheers, which for a VIP seat was pretty impressive. “WE ARE GOING TO ROCK YOUTONIGHT!” and more cheers erupted.

Mistero smirked from back stage as he watched the fool rile the crowds, they weren’t here for the designer they were here for Mistero to model them clothes. Soon enough though the man in his funny voice walked off stage and the music started, A very loud thumping rave/techno beat that made everyone heart thump along with it. The curtains opened and Mistero was first to walk out the lights glinting off his hair and tiara, He sashed down the cat walk with practice ease the high heel boots he wore making minimal sounds and the people cheer as he modeled off the dark Victorian Goth outfit a good shout out to visual kei lovers.

A woman next to Meese cheered and screamed as she walked Mistero walk by. Mistero of course offered her a wink and a smile but stopped short seeing Meese and his expression fell into one that said ‘I can’t believe you actually came’ before regaining his composure and did a spin at the end of the Cat walk posing and then turning to continue back up it as another model made its way out and Mistero disappeared back stage for an outfit change.

“It Actually came” he said with a thoughtful look…why had he come?

Meese watched Mistero go down the runaway. 'I see why he's so popular now,' he thought. He winced, jumping a little and covering his ears as the woman next to him screamed loudly. He looked up to see Mistero's stare, shrinking back into his seat.

'Is he still mad at me?' he mused as he watched the other models strut down the cat walk. It was funny how not too many cheered for them as they walked down, trying to hype up the crowd in many ways. A majority of them of them making Meese feel very uncomfortable and the rest of the crowd to question the maturity of the models.

'Again. . .I want to go home. . .' he sighed and looked around, hoping to find any ways to get out. 'None. . .' He slumped in his seat and continued to watch. This was going to be a long show. . .

Despite the other models best efforts they just didn’t have as large a fan base as Mistero did so they dwindled in comparison to the stars looks and abilities. The thing that captivated the audiences though was that Mistero didn’t try to get their attention; he genuinely strived to show off the clothes in the best way possible. As he made several passes down the Cat walk again and again each outfit distinctly different from the other he caught himself glancing in Meese’s direction over and over.

He was trying to figure out why Meese had come, he obviously looked uncomfortable; he didn’t look like he wanted to be there either. After a few more passes a couple more techno beats and screams cheers and about 100 outfit changes, the fashion show ended the designer walking back out and inviting everyone to an after party at the Le chateau. Gabe approached Meese in this time having spotted the young male seated in the reserved seat by the cat walk. “Glad you could make it!! Welcome, welcome! Enjoy the show! Oh never mind we have plenty of time to talk about that later…follow me! Mistero’s just changing and then we’ll go to the Restaurant for lunch” he said quickly barely leaving Meese any room to talk as he ushered him back stage.

Meese wondered why Mistero was looking at him. Did he not want the boy here or something? He sighed again--how many times was that now?-- and kept watching. He had to admit though, aside from the odd looks, attention-starved models, volume, and lights, the show wasn't that bad.

The fashion show finally ended. 'That wasn't too bad,' he thought as he stretched his arms a little. Gabe had come up to him not too long after and began rambling, then dragged him back stage before he got a word in. He stuttered a bit as the man lead him through the back. Meese made sure that he didn't trip on anything on the way to, what he was assuming was, Mistero's dressing room.

Mistero sighed as he stepped out of the shower in the chaining room, clean of the makeup and heavy styling products he went to grab a shirt when the door to the dressing room opened, “Mist! Look who came!” said Gabe in his no nonsense voice which Mist didn’t take to heart. “I already know you placed him right next to the cat walk Gabe” said Mistero turning around water bottle in hand and a fresh shirt as well. This one stripped and hung off his shoulders he went to retrieve his Tiara sitting on the vanity and looked at the two, “ so what restaurant and how long?” he questioned this time.

“We’re going to the Chateau and it’ll be for a good couple hours…” said Gabe motioning Meese to sit,” I’ve cleared you schedule for the afternoon so relax. Gabe was definitely determined to make Mistero friends…the boy was too lonely and miserable.

Meese nodded, sitting down a bit reluctantly. "S-sorry for intruding. . ." he said in a small voice. His eyes scanned around the room, this was all new to him. This dressing room was way bigger and way nicer than the ones that he used at work. Wait, come to think of it. . .

"W-wait! The Chateau, as in Shitsuji Chateau?" he asked a bit flustered. Meese was internally hoping that it wasn't, that was where he worked. He was a bit worried about what his co-workers would say and how they'd tease him for leaving work and later coming back with a friend. Besides, the guys would be sure to act even more in character just because it was him who they were serving.

Mistero blinked seeing the kid suddenly stiffen and chuckled,” yes Shitsuji Chateau, didn’t you know it’s one of my favorite Restaurants.” He said playing up a small little lie just to make Meese nervous. Something about that nervous expression got Mistero’s blood running rapidly and he liked it. “Though I’ve never seen you there…are you new?” he asked as he fixed his bangs and readjusted his tiara his skull ring glinting with the light. “Gabe get the kid a change of clothes…I don’t want to be seen with him all scruffy looking” stated Mistero as he sat down to put his boots on.

“Aye, aye Captain” Gabe smirked, “I’m thinking petite he’s very lanky.” Said the manager as he brushed off out of the room to rifle through some of the designer clothes. Mistero then glanced up eyeing Meese from his spot at the vanity…after a few moments of awkward silence he stood up and pointed to his seat. “Sit there right now” he stated rather demandingly and when Meese didn’t move stated more firmly. “Sit there now! I haven’t all day” he said waiting. Seconds later Gabe brushed back into the room, “ah a famous Mistero make-over your gonna look fab kid just fab, perhaps even model material!” he said hanging up a selection of outfits. “When Mist’s done with ya try these on and what shoe size are you?” he asked about to walk out the door again for accessories.

Meese flushed and stuttered. He had never seen Mistero at the cafe before or he had and just forgot. Most likely the latter. "I-I've been there f-for a-awhile. . ." he stuttered. There was also the possibility that he just never served him if Mistero had been to the cafe.

Meese stiffened and scurried to where he was told to sit. To be honest, he didn't really want Mistero to give him a makeover or anything. If anything, it made him feel more self conscious. 'Yep. . .Everyone's going to make fun of me. . .' he thought, squirming in the chair a bit.

When Meese sat down Mistero grabbed out a pair of scissors, “don’t worry I know how to cut hair” Mistero cut his own hair since he didn’t trust anyone to cut his hair. As he began to trim and give Meese a less 70’s look Gabe brushed in again and brought over two different pairs of boots holding them up to Meese and then approve the one pair that were a knee high boot with silver buckles, it had no heel but it would give Meese a little more height, “Looking good there”.

Even if Meese didn’t like it Mistero could have cared less. If you wanted to get places you had to present yourself properly and Meese certainly didn’t present himself as another more than under average, a couple snips and clips here and there and Meese’s hair was transformed. No longer was it long and stringy but light and wispy giving him a more masculine look but still retained some of Meese’s feminine appearance. “There now go change” said Mistero as he glanced at the selections and pulled one outfit off the rack. The outfit was a dark turtleneck sweater with a skull and roses design on the chest, A grey vest with large safety pins in one side and a silver chain sat in the pocket and attacked to the pants that were more like tights with a torn black skirt and three different belts that crisscrossed one another. Taking the boot Gabe had picked out he shoved all the items in Meese’s hands, “Hurry and change now.”

Mistero certainly worked at his own pace.

Meese stuttered as he quickly changed, despite the embarrassment. He was nervous earlier when Mistero had cut his hair, but he liked how it turned out. He felt nostalgic, this is almost exactly what happened on his first day of work. He had been dressed up in many different outfits till he got assigned to the tail coat and ear that he uses.

Meese finished changing and slipped on the boots. He blinked as he looked at Mistero nervously. "D-does it l-look okay?" he asked. He squirmed where he stood, feeling a little awkward in the new attire, especially the skirt. Oh how the others would tease him today. . .

“It looks fine and stop acting like you’ve been subjected to torture” said Mistero grabbing his coat as Gabe put a couple wrist bands on Meese’s wrists and guided him out of the changing room Meese’s folded clothes in a bag. “Let’s go time’s a wasting” said Gabe ushering them both out Mistero pushed Meese’s shoulder forcing him to walk at his pace, “It’s called fashion get used to it.” Said Mistero pulling out a phone from his pocket which he turned off and pocketed again, “Gabe I’m not going to any parties tonight that have fans…I want to drink at home”. “Spoil sport” muttered the manager as they exited the stage area and continued down towards a limo.

“So before we go any further” said Mistero as Gabe opened the limo for them to get into. “What’s your name?”

Meese allowed Mistero to push him as they walked to the limo. "My full name is Koihara, Nezumisu," he replied, he frowned a bit as he remembered how his last name sounded too much like that of an infamous information broker, "but you can call me Meese." He smiled and held out his hand. "Mind telling me your's? I only know your first name."

Mistero raised a slender eyebrow at Meese and when he extended his hand he didn’t take it or shake it at all. “Mistero Nightingale” he stated, “Mist for short” he said as he got in the back seat of the car and recline only to be swatted by Gabe, “Don’t slouch”. “I swear Gabe one of these days you’re losing that hand”. Mistero eyed Meese with a greyish silver eye, “are you by chance afraid of me?” he questioned curiously, the thought of Meese this fragile looking boy being terrified of him made Mistero’s blood race wildly, and for a second he felt like he’d just found a reason to wake up and do what he did in the morning.

He almost laughed out loud at the stupid notions moving around in his head and instead settled for reaching out and gripping Meese’s chin tilting his face this way and that, “ you have good lines and features” he said. “Ya ain’t that right Mist” said Gabe with a grin, “perfect model material for the junior section of our company. “Ya perfect” muttered Mistero his eye’s not leaving Meese once not even as they pulled up to Shitsuji Chateau and got out.

Meese blinked and pulled his hand back. He scratched the back of his head nervously. "W-weeell. . ." he started, laughing nervously. To be honest, he was a tad scared of Mistero. Well, it was more like intimidation than fear. It wasn't his status or anything that made feel this way, he wasn't sure.

He blushed as Mistero grabbed his chin. Meese resisted the urge to flail his limbs to get the model to release him, this was reminding him of the times in the cafe where the guys would joke around, pretending that he was a girl and shamelessly flirt with him. He scurried out of the limo when it came to a stop/ walking into the cafe with Mistero. The cafe didn't look so busy today, but it was still pretty lively with all the servers running around and putting on some "free entertainment" for the female customers.

"Welc- Meese is that you?!" one of his older co-workers shouted, almost dropping the plate of food he was holding. He placed the plate in front of the customer and all but ran towards them. Meese giggled at his friend's antics.

"Hi Chocharo," he replied. Chocharo smiled, patting Meese on the back as he rambled on and on about the boy leaving work and coming back looking completely different. He just laughed, completely used to his chatty co-workers and his jokes.

Mistero coughed when the waiter continued to ramble loudly and annoyingly to Meese. He didn’t appreciate the lack of attention, “Ahem…but you’re not being paid to stand around looking pretty are you?” questioned the Model crossing his arms. Gabe stepped in quickly before anything more could happen, “Reservation for Mistero Nightingale” he said holding out a place card reminding him about the time and date.

“Hurry along” he stated, “ oh and preferably a quiet corner…Mistero doesn’t like a lot of noise” he said letting Chocharo leaving.
