That’s right! Users may no longer change their own names! We know you guys had a great time with it, but it could get very confusing for the admins and moderators at times because with name changes a few things had to happen.
1) If the name change occurred during a time when the user changing their name had incurred a chatbox ban the ban remained effective however we would have to track down every member in that group and check names in order to figure out what they changed their name to so we could UNBAN them. Yeah, we need your account names, not IP addresses for those and believe it or not that could get tedious.
2) If multiple people have changed their names around a time when new users joined the staff had no way of immediately knowing who was new and who had just changed names.
3) If the name change was permanent and the user changing names was a canon player and did not inform an admin often times we would not remember to change the canon page to match it and it would then be incorrect.
These three things were actually giving us more hassle than we really need to deal with. Now, don’t worry! If you really need a change and desire something different then PM the administrator Ren and she will happily change it for you! The only reason we’re doing it this way is because the staff NEEDS to know who is who and if people are changing their names every week we won’t.
There are a couple of guidelines though that we do request of you though when asking for a name change.
1) Don’t ask for anything offensive
2) Do not ask for a name that is the same as or similar to another person’s user name
3) Try to limit your requests to once a month
4) Keep in mind that your request may take time to be processed and it may not be accepted
5) Do NOT ask us to put an @ in front of your name. This is seen as an attempt to impersonate staff members and your request will be denied.
