Ikebukuro: To some, it is just another big city in Japan, but there are others who have been priviledged to see what really goes on. Gang violence isn't what we're talking about. You'll soon see what I mean. Welcome to Ikebukuro...

I've been noticing that the admins are having trouble with characters that are running around rampaging with very common character cliches. Now, me, having years of experience in creating ocs, discovering what works and doesn't, looking at other's ocs and helping with ocs (._. not meaning to brag) thought it'd be helpful to post some cliches I commonly see when reviewing original characters part of any fandom, not just this one.

-Tragic troubled past
-Orphan
-Homeless
-Runaway
-unnatural hair or eye color for the heritage they have
-foreign
-supernatural powers/not human (If the fandom is mostly human made up)
-Related to a canon character
-human experiment
-mental problems
-has a crush or is dating a canon character
-all or mostly male characters if the mun is a male
-all or mostly female characters if the mun is a girl
-having concealed weapons (again, pending on the fandom)
-having no scars at all or going overboard with scars
-Appearing very young for their age
-being a teenager
-being exceptionally gifted in one particular field (amazing nurse, something like that)
-having one trait or heritage, or race and then having a trait that's unusual for said thing
-being initially cold or basically a jerk on the outside but actually being kind on the inside. (yes, this is an extremely over-used character type not just in ocs, but anime and just stories in general too!)
-The eccentric character type. (Basically just being an all around weirdo. This character type is probably more overused than the one above)
-The rebel character type. (again, extremely overused in a wide variety of things)
-having hidden talents

I'll add more when they come to me, and feel free to add some to the list! I just posted this because I thought it would be helpful.

Just a question, what does 'mun' mean? Is it short for something?

It comes up in

-all or mostly male characters if the mun is a male
-all or mostly female characters if the mun is a girl

"Mun" is simply the person who roleplays the character. I don't know why it's called that, but that's what it is.

Also just gonna say I actually see more of the opposite where females have male characters and men have females more often.

uwu I see, well, these are just my observations from the sites I've been on. I know things may be different elsewhere.
