Painting the dawn Empty
PostSubject: Painting the dawn   Painting the dawn I_icon_minitimeFri Dec 30, 2011 9:51 pm

Darren Flanagan let out a heavy sigh as he shoved the vest and tie of his work uniform into his messenger bag. Another long night of work was finished at last, andif he wasnt so exhausted, the redhead would have whooped for joy at the fact. But, Tired has he was, happily stayed seated on the edge of the fountain, head turned to skyward as he reclined gratfully in the early light of late dawn.

Darren swore, one day he would find and kill the idiot whose idea it was to make Roulette, the cafe he worked at, a 24 hour esablishment.

The redhead breathed another sigh and trailed his fingerless glove clad hand idly in the cool water of the fountain before briging the wet hand to face, not caring if he got his black dress shirt wet.

the cool water felt good on his face, ten hours of bussing tables in a not very well ventelated cafe really made one break a sweat. Darren let his hand fall limply back to the water, he stared at it for a moment before a small smile came to his face, blue eyes lighting up.

The 23 year old quickly dug around in his bag and pulled from it a good sized book of watercolor paper, a small bag of brushes and a set of 36 color watercolors.

Nothing spelled "after work relaxation" quite like painting.

Darren flipped to a fresh page in the book, only slightly disheartened to find he only had 5 pages left, and flipped open the plastic cover to the paint set. With a smile he drew one of his favorite brushes from the bag and dipped it in the fountain, hoping he wouldnt get in trouble for this, but the park was seemingly deserted, as most people had yet to wake up, so he wast to worried.

the redhead quickly set to work, swirling his brush in one of the cakes of solid paint, a nice shade of green, and bringing it to the page, getting lost in his work.

Alois had followed the male waiter from the resturant he worked out to the fountain he now sat at; he had noticed this man not to long ago. Thinking this man would be fun to observe he had quickly changed out of his Raira Acedemy uniform and waited in the alleyway of the resutrant the man worked at until he left.
Alois stayed close behind one of the tall blossom trees as his glowing red eyes locked on the man sitting on the fountain. He made sure he wasnt seen as he ran to the back of the fountain and got up to stand on the edge. He stepped quietly as he approched the painter, and stood hovering over him as he painted. The painter didnt seem to notcie since Alois was keeping his shadow withing the other man's shadow.
"I guess this guy can keep me busy for a couple hours." Alois thought as he observed his new "toy's" movements agains the no long white paper.

Darrens hands moved his brush in a flowing motion across the paper. pauses for washing and switching colors swift and practiced. not even flinching when a shadow fell over him

the colors soon formed a gentle, blured image, a figure clad in flowing green clothing, sitting on a rock which wound up a grenish grey brown. blond hair obsucuring most of an undetailed profile, looking skyward. the forground became a blue-green water, the background a vaugly forrest like mix of greens and browns.

It was only after he deemed the piece finished, that Darren FINALLY Noticed the presence next to him. The redhead looked up slowly, completly unpprepared to come face to face with a pair of red eyes.

"GYAAH!" the redhead lurched in surprise at how close the person was to him. he dropped his book on ground and fell back into the fountain, his paintset and brush-pouch falling in with him.

"Hm i didnt think i'd scare you that much." Alois said as he jumped down from the fountains edge, he leaned over and stratched out a hand towards the now soaked man. Even though he was a lot smaller then the red head he still had the strength to pull him out of the water.
"Sorry about that, oh and your paints being ruined." Alois said reaching into the fountain and pulling out the the drained water color paints and soaked paint brushes. He handed them to the man and jumped back on the fountains edge. The albino child started running around the fountains edge, still keeping his eyes on the other male's movements.

Darren pouted slightly, he was Surprised not scared.

"well i wasnt exactly expecting to have someone staring at me like that"

Darren, still slightly dumbfounded, took the childs hand and let him pull him up out of the water, which was stained with rainbow swirls from his now drained out paint set. he took the brushes and ruined paints from the boy with a small smile.

"its alright, these paints were the cheap kind anyway, easily replacable," the redhead said tossing the drained out plastic tray in a nearby garbage can, "and i needed to wash half these brushes anyway." he added a good natured laugh.

Darren leaned down and picked up his book, which and thakfully landed face up, leaving the still damp painting clear of gritty dirt and the like. the redhead smiled wistfully staring at the painting for a moment as he pulled out a hand towel from his bag to dry his brushes. he layed the towel on the ground and lay the brushes to dry on it as he sat back down on the fountains edge, not really caring bout his soaked clothes.

He, almost absentmindedly brought a hand up to his right ear, feeling for something the he finnally noticed wasnt there. his eyes widened and he put the book down immediatly turning back to the fountain in a panic.

"MY EARRING" he cried, his eyes searching the slightly opaque water franticaly.

"This one?" Alois asked pointing to something sparkiling in the water; he dropped foward into the water and grabbed the earing in his small hand. He swam under the rippiling water before popping up right infront of the frantic red-head.
"Here." Alois said putting it in the older man's hand; after a look of relife passed his face Alois dunked back into the water like some kind of fish. After a large amount of time passed Alois stayed hidden under the water, not moveing a muscle

Darren let greatfull relief pass over his features as the precious object was returned to him. "wow, thanks kid."

the earring was simple looking, two red, round beads and a large red metal spade dargling off a hook. Darren gratfully returned the trinket to its rightfull place on his earjust as the albino child dissapeared under the watter again. when the kid didnt resurface after awhile, Darren began to get concerned

"Kid?" he said, swinging his legs over the edge and getting into the water himself, "Kid! you okay!" the redhead kept his eyes on the water, determined not to be caught off guard by the child again.

Alois grinned when he saw one of the man's legs step into the water, he grabbed onto one of his legs and pulled him down into the water with him. Once the man had fallen into the water Alois popped back up and sat down on the ledge, awating the man to emerge from under the water. The ablino was bored as hell so he wanted to play with this man a little bit more, also he was actually pretty fun to play with at that!
"Sorry about that, you looked like you could cool off after loseing that earing. Your face was all red." Alois giggled as he sat cross legged with one foot in the water.

Darren let out a squak of indignation as he was pulled down into the drink, resurfacing fairly quickly just in time to hear the boys explination. his hand flying to the earring at the mention of it. an embarressed blush sprouting on his cheeks as he sat there in the water.

" Well... this earring is my... my most precious possesion..." Darrens blue eyes got glassy for a moment before taking a more relaxed position in the water and looking at the boy head on, " Whats your name kid?" he asked seemingly out of nowhere.

"My name is Alois Usagi, Usagi mean's "rabbit" if you didnt know." Alois said as he went back in the water and started jumping around in it like a five year old.
"What might i call you?"

Darren let a jovial smile come to his face, "Rabbit huh? fitting, your like a hyper little bunny" he let out a laugh, watching the boy prance about in the fountain, eyes becoming clouded with something unplaceable.

" My Names Darren, Darren Flanagan," another smile.

I sleep so much there i was able to train myself to sleep with my eyes open and keep my hand writing everything the teacher wrot eon the bord." Alois laughed as he dipped his hands in the water and threw some of thw water up in the air.

"well, i guess its not the kind of name one would hear around these parts," Darren said as he listened to alois go on.

"ah, sleeping in class, one of many wonderful childhood pastimes"

the redhead watched the boy play in the water for a while, smiling wistfully.

"ya know kid, you kinda remind me of someone i knew."

"Oh yea? I get that a lot, i just have that kind of personality." Alois said kicking more water up in the air and trying to climb ontop of the centerpiece of the fountain. Unfortanetly the base was to slippery and he just ended up falling back into the water.

Darren smiled, letting warm memories wash over him as he watched the albino child. when the boy slipped, his eyes widened and he got up, moving over to where Alois fell in.

" You Okay?" the redhead said, leaning down to see if the boy was harmed.

Alois coughed up some of the water that he had swallowed and made something of a disgusted look.
"Ew, i can tell this water hasnt been changed in a long time." Alois said he crawled up onto the edge of the fountain and fell down onto the brick ground.
"It's getting close to day time, i should probably get home so i dont get all sick. Also being in a pair of wet jeans, we leather boots, and s wet long sleeve t-shirt isnt very comfortable." he pulled off his shirt and placed it all wrapped up ontop of his head.
"It'll be safe up there."

Darren cringed at the thought of tasting the slightly murky water they were standing in. and doubted his paints had done anything to help such things.

he loooked up, when Alois mentioned the coming day. he hadnt realized it had gotten this... late? early? whatever.

"will you be alright going home on your own?" Darren asked, stepping out of the fountain himself.

Alois took out a ten inch switch blade and held it out so the moonlight shined on the blade.
"Im sure i'll be fine, just a little cold." Alois said, rubbing his arms to see if the might get a little warmer. He stood up from the spot he was sitting and put his switchblade back in his pocket.
"What about you? Will you be ok walking home? I like all the way in Shinjuku by the way." Alois said, grinning at the thought of an older guy haveing to be escorted home by a high school student.

"Shinjuku huh?" Darren said as he wrung out the sides of his shirt, "thats a long walk."

"Ill be fine," The redhead said as he gathered his now dry brushes and his watercolor book, "Its not like i live super nearby or anything, but its not that far either."

"Besides, " The 23 year old shouldered his bag with a smile, "If i do get even the least bit sick, i can skip work tonight!" the redhead chortled at the idea.

"Ah yes you work at that resturant correct? I follow you to there and then back to your house almost everyday." Alois said, makeing it seem like it was the most natural thing in the world to him. He did to almost everyone he saw or thought was intereseting; also he wasnt "all there" mental wise so he really didnt think it was wrong.

Darren stared at the kid blankly for a moment before another smile came to his face as if he had realized the answer to a pressing question

"So it was YOU following me, " the rehead laughed, seemingly not the least bit phased by the fact, "And my coworkers thought i was going crazy!"

"Hm maybe you are, maybe I'm just a figment of your imagination." Alois said as he started running around the red-head. He usually got a bit crazier then usual at around this time.
"Just kidding, I'm pretty sure I'm a real person." Alois giggled and jumped on the older males back.
"Sorry, I felt like attacking something! Rawr!" Alois growled, thinking that he was actually scarey.

Darren laughed at the boys antics, hardly even flinching when the kid jumped on him.

"You are adorable. did you know that?" another laugh. when his chuckles subsided he looked back at the boy, "But could you do me a gigantic favour, and not tell anyone where i live?" there was a slight plead in his voice.
