Ikebukuro: To some, it is just another big city in Japan, but there are others who have been priviledged to see what really goes on. Gang violence isn't what we're talking about. You'll soon see what I mean. Welcome to Ikebukuro...

Kuroshirou's Orange Clams Empty
PostSubject: Kuroshirou's Orange Clams   Kuroshirou's Orange Clams I_icon_minitimeMon Dec 31, 2012 5:08 pm

Full Name: Shimizu Keiko (Western Order: Keiko Shimizu)

Nickname(s): Kei

Birthdate:
February 10, 1989

Age: 23

Physical appearance:

Kei stands at about 5’4, despite her being a young woman, much to her dismay. She weighs about 61 kg, or 138 lbs. She has short-medium length black hair. Her bangs are a tad bit messy, and she wears some of her hair in a messy ponytail. Since her hair isn’t very long it gives the illusion of being spiky. Kei has typical brown eyes, and she’s not chubby, nor slender, at about a normal body standard. Kei often takes to wearing several different outfits, but her most favored one is a black button-up shirt with a white tie, and dark denim capris, accompanied by black converses. An alternate outfit would be a dull green hoodie with a black skirt and black leggings with either converses or boots.

Personality:

Jubilant and outgoing, Kei is a loudmouthed bundle of joy who often spends most, if not all of her time, speaking in a loud tone. Often up and about when given her rest, she loves to wildly have fun and enjoy what time she has left of free time before going off to work or such. Having a love for sweets, she spends quite a bit of her time feeding off of confections and spending time with friends. In moments when nothing is available, Kei’s excitable yet obnoxious energy can sour into an irritable and complaining aura that often infects those around her. She can also be spontaneous and unpredictable, bringing up things at the most inappropriate times. However, from time to time, she is able to tell when a situation is serious, and will try her best not to act this way, although not guaranteed at all times since her self-control level is rather low.

When Kei sours, she can be either one of two things: annoying, or downright mean. Her loud chirps of joy can turn into low snarks or jabs at one’s personality, hobbies, or just anything about them. She can be judgmental towards some, often pointing out noticeable flaws in someone when she’s not given her daily consumption of sweets. Kei’s sarcastic behavior and angered attitude can blend together for the most terrible combination. Kei can also be easily identified as lazy and quick to complain whenever bored, often leading to constant complaining, and the causing of headaches of those around her. Her unpredictable nature can also be a downside, as she may do something so outwardly rude. It would make even the most uncultured people gasp. Examples will be withheld for the sake of your brains.

Background:

Born in Tokyo, however in the area of Shibuya, Keiko Shimizu was raised in a fairly large home of 5. Brought up by medical experts, Kei lived a fairly “normal” life with her two other siblings, one sister and one brother. Her family got along well, everyone not too displeased with the others. Kei’s father was that of a seemingly quiet, serious, and anti-social father, but Kei saw the real him, funny, playful, and teasing. She got along very well with her father, even though she was a terrible, spoiled pain of a child to begin with. Her mother, she wasn’t as close to, as she appeared kind and gentle, while really being quite loud and stern. Her older sister was a rather ditzy one, yet also portrayed somewhat of a role-model to her. Her sister could be somewhat of her best friend family member. Kei’s brother was studious, diligent, and quiet, being the polar opposite of Kei herself. Not getting along AS well with him, she still cared for him.

In general, her family cared rather greatly for her siblings and herself, however, she was often disciplined greatly for her spoiled and obnoxious behaviors. This toned down these two features of her personality, but it wasn’t enough for her stubborn personality, as those two traits of her seem to linger in her attitude today. Her family was not poor, nor rich, so she grew up spoiled as being the youngest, yet not as so spoiled as to getting everything she wanted. That still didn’t stop her from continuing to complain about things she wanted, although not wanting to scare off everyone, she only complains like this around her trusted friends. (Who she knows will tolerate her excruciatingly stubborn behavior of course.)

After moving on a business trip to America during her elementary and middle school years, she returned to start a new life in Ikebukuro back in Tokyo for her high school years. As she got older, her siblings began to move out, and she now currently lives on her own in an apartment in Ikebukuro. She’s rather skilled in the arts, but currently serves a job at a confections store seeing as how she loves candy and is rather lazy to try and get a real job at the moment.

However, after months of persuasion, she is now currently trying to find a living as an artist both visually and musically, yet still remains working at her part-time job. She now spends her days working, spending time walking around the streets, using the internet far more than she should be, and always trying to keep up with the latest news in Ikebukuro.

Recently, Kei has been receiving rather strange gems in her mail. At first, she found them to be quite interesting, but she soon began to worry as she began to receive many more gems, each seeming to invoke a certain emotion in her. Worried that they may be dangerous (especially since there was no return address), she’s begun to lock them away in a storage in her apartment, only to find herself receiving more and more of them. She now receives them on a daily basis, and already has a storage room with shelves of them. She was fascinated by each one as well as a bit terrified of them. Soon, she began to sort them into different groups, by color, size, shape, and the emotions they gave off. Unknown to her, her father and his archaeologist friend have been the ones sending her the gems. When her father found out about the gems by his friend, though methods of persuasion, got them to send each gem they collected after doing research on them to her, in hopes of getting her to try new and more interesting things.

Kei soon began to research the gems, and sometimes, her friends would surprisingly find her being focused, concentrated, and serious about the shiny rocks. Scared that her collection would become an addiction, they often try to get her out more. Of course, from time to time she’d often grow lazy and cease work on the gems, much to the relief of her friends, but she would still find herself doing at least one thing related to the finding of the stones.

Research soon brought her the origin of the mysterious stones. Hundreds of years before, an unnamed island off the coat of Japan was known for its beautiful gemstones, to which the inhabitants and tourists (although not considered tourists at the time) admired them so greatly. Each stone gave off a certain aura that would invoke a certain emotion in the holder of the stone. Soon, people were becoming overly raged, depressed, overjoyed, and everything of the sort. It was said that the spirits of emotion possessed these stones, slowly taking over the minds of those who wrongfully took away their precious treasures. Soon, the stones were buried into the grounds of cities that would later inhabit the islands, the gems forever forgotten in the history of the islands.

Kei decided it would be best to keep the history of these gems a secret, her research and interest in the stones leading her to a kind of “second life”.

Close relationships:

Kei has no close relationships in particular, being single and having a large array of friends. She is rather close to her sister however, and the two often try to find the time to do something entertaining together, like going out to the mall or eat, or having a wild party – in their own houses with just the two of them.

Current occupation: Part-time confection shop employee. Working to become a great artist.

Gang (if applicable):
Kei has heard of the infamous gangs around Ikebukuro, but has shown no interest in joining any of them.

Strengths: Multi-tasking, jubilant, flexible, element of surprise.

Weaknesses: Obnoxious, considered short for her family’s average height, lazy, uncontrollable,

Fears/Insecurities: Kei has an irrational fear of insects. She also fears greatly that one day, she’ll be alone, not physically, but mentally. She loves making friends, but hates to lose them. She also worries about not being good enough in any field whether it be humor or doing a task. Kei fears that if this happens, others will dislike her. She often tries to mask this with a fake, yet strong pride.

Likes: Sweets, music, internet, colors

Dislikes: Dullness, being left out, stupidity, waking up early

Driving force: Kei’s motivation in life is to become stronger in her field of music and art, and to be recognized by others for her work.

Hobbies: Researching her gemstones, eating, sleeping, surfing the internet, walking around town, sleeping.

Describe your character in three words:

Just a mouth

(If you want something different: joyful, strange, loud.)

If your character were stranded on an island and could only bring two things with them, what would they be?: A computer and a wireless internet router.

If your character could change anything about themselves, what would they change?: The volume of her voice, as she sometimes regrets how her words came out.

Your character opens their fridge; what do they see?:

Chocolate
Sandwiches
Chocolate Cake
Chocolate Ice Cream
Hot Sauce
Tempura
Rice

Sample Roleplay:

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.

Time only seemed so short, but for Kei, it was a snail riding down a turtle’s back. How much longer would she have to endure this pain? It was only a matter of time before this “meeting” would end, and she couldn’t believe her sister Mei would just drag her down here because she didn’t want to be alone. Kei hated being alone too, but hell, if she’d known how incredibly dull this business meeting that she wasn’t even obligated to join was, she’s rather curl up in bed and do nothing for three days. Yawning loudly and rather rudely out of lack of self-control, she felt a sharp jolt of pain hit her shin.

“Ahg, crap!”

A similar pair of brown eyes were beating down on Kei’s with a glare so intense, Kei would’ve been chopped meat if violence were aloud publicly. Shrinking behind her seat, she tapped her fingers lightly on the granite desk. Blah blah blah economy blah blah stocks. Why wouldn’t the old man who obviously caught no attention from even the most attentive listeners shut up already. “Pleeasee, just shut your mouth and declare this company a failure already…” Kei dropped her head down onto the desk, resting it on her arm as she prepared for a long nap.

Thunk.

“YAAAGH!”

Soon, every single pair of eyes in the long room were on her as a large bruise would soon find its way onto her head. Mei looked rather serious and on her last straw as she yanked up Kei’s head from the desk. Wearing a sour and terrified look on her face, Kei shut her eyes tightly and zipped her mouth closed so it hopefully wouldn’t open again for at least the remainder of the meeting.

Clearing his throat, the elderly leader of the business meeting resumed his speaking, only for Kei’s mind to drift off into the space beyond Earth. Soon, the man’s figure was replaced by a large chicken, and Kei found herself floating out of her seat. The air was filled with bubbles, and Mei became a wicked witch.

“Oooh! Will there be cookies at this delightful soiree?” The chicken inquired the frogman next to him.

“Why only the butter ones, my dear Frank! Isn’t that right, Ms. Snake?”

Cue the nodding cobra woman.

It was only a matter of time before Kei was violently awakened by her sister, involving a sheet of paper, shocked business workers, and screams of desperation to escape from the grasp of death itself.

Very nicely done! I have only one question and that is: Who sent her the gems?

She may not know, but we do need to unfortunately.

Ah, alrighty then, I'll go and fix that up. The one who's been sending her gems is her father. He's been very encouraging of her to try new things, so he figured getting her to study these gems up would keep her busy. His friend is an Archaeologist.

Fixing that up right now~
