PostSubject: Kawasaki's OC(s) - needs approval~   Thu Sep 27, 2012 8:40 pm

Full Name: Satoshi Mizushima (clear thinking, water island)

Birthdate: April 1st

Age: 16

Gender: Male

Physical appearance: In contradiction to what he would perhaps like to think, Satoshi doesn’t look very intimidating at all. He’s tall for his age at just over 6”, but he hasn’t ‘filled out’ yet and so looks rather lanky and awkward. As this has a habit of drawing even more attention to itself when he tries to move anywhere particularly fast, Satoshi seems (whether consciously or not) to have taken to walking everywhere at a leisurely pace when in public (regardless of whether or not there is a time constraint).

His figure is rather effeminate and soft for a boy, making him look quite fragile and like a stiff breeze would blow him over. This seems unwilling to change no matter what exercise or working out he does in his spare time to try and change it; something that pisses him off to no end.

His hair is an auburn ‘coppery’ colour, very fine and straight. It falls to chin length at the front, a bit shorter at the back with a feathered texture that says he’s probably been to a hairdresser’s not that long ago. His eyes are a startlingly clear metallic blue.

And unfortunately for him, his overall face seems, like the rest of his figure, to be unwilling to lose its soft, feminine features. He’s the type that gets up in the morning, and strains looking for hairs on his chin to shave in the bathroom mirror and finds none. Occasionally he will shave anyway for the sheer fact that it makes him feel better. Satoshi used to be annoyed by this as well until his friend pointed out that shaving was actually quite bothersome if you didn’t want stubble and that Satoshi should be grateful. He hasn’t complained since, slowly learning to accept the fact that he may always be ‘pretty’ rather than ‘handsome’ but consoles himself with the reasoning that as long as it looks good it doesn’t really matter either way.

When he’s not at school wearing the uniform, he usually dresses in quite fashionable looking clothes that are quite tight fitting (whilst better than clothes so baggy he could swim in them, they do draw attention to his gangliness once again). He tells himself that if he looks good enough in the clothes, people’s attention will be drawn away from that.
Satoshi would say he has too many clothes but yet only feels an emotional attachment to a few of them (if any) and could probably throw most of them away if he really needed to. The large majority of his outfits are mixtures of red, white and black.

Background: Satoshi’s parents are rich. Ridiculously ‘wtf-do-you-even-need-that-much-money-for’ rich. But yet the family isn’t really that big and the members don’t tend to keep in contact with one another – most of them are never really heard of by Satoshi or his parents unless they want something (usually money), something Satoshi himself has realised.

His parents married when it was discovered that his father (Takeshi Miyamoto) had got his mother (Asami Mizushima) pregnant. She did it to save her family’s name from scandal and he did it to get out of marrying a woman his parents had picked but he really didn’t want to. Takeshi was the CEO of an international software company with its headquarters in Yokohama and Asami was the PA of the CEO Takeshi’s company had been trying to close a deal with at the time. Takeshi’s (adopted) parents were horrified by his choice of wife, but he didn’t really care what they thought and so cut off communications with them, figuring they had never really done much for him anyway as he had more or less built up his company from scratch. Adopting him and giving him a relatively cushty life aside.

As such, there was never really much love in the house Satoshi grew up in, his mother was miserable and kept more as a quiet, pretty little trophy wife, while his father was away often on business. Satoshi had no siblings and so was spoilt rotten in terms of money, which was all but thrown at his education – home taught until middle school and then packed off to a top private-school somewhere ‘out of the way’.

Satoshi and his parents probably could’ve had a good relationship once upon a time. As a child, he had loved his mother very much and would often go and be with her when not in ‘class’ or taking lessons for other activities. He had thought her very pretty and liked it when she’d let him comb her hair. She however seemed rather distant and dispassionate, sometimes looking at him with an expression caught somewhere between regret, disappointment, loathing (probably for herself than for her child) and a general ‘what-am-I-doing-here’. She had never really been one for kids, Satoshi hadn’t been planned, so there was never much affection between them, though this partly seemed also due to the fact that Asami herself had no idea what to even do about it – though she eventually grew to see him as something similar to a pretty dress-up doll that she could buy expensive clothes for and groom to pass the time.
As Satoshi got older and the permanent sense of rejection and not being good enough settled in, the love for her seemed to dim into a helpless desperation and an anger at the way it seemed nothing he would ever do would make her like him because she had never wanted a child in the first place.

Satoshi’s father had, to be fair, made somewhat of an effort for the first few years – a tall, stocky intimidating man, the little Satoshi had seen him as both a role model and someone to be utterly terrified of (something his father had never really tried to change). Satoshi however, was a rather sickly weak child, born 6 weeks premature, and so Takeshi’s hopes of raising a strong, masculine son that would be good at sports and take over his company faded and he grew bored and stopped paying attention.

This fell apart when Satoshi was about 10, when it was found out that he was not in fact’s Takeshi’s biological son. Seeing no reason to stick around, Takeshi left Satoshi and his mother for destinations unknown.

Satoshi used the private school he was sent to at the age of 11 as a form of escape, a way to forget about everything, and though he enjoyed that – the fact that he was only there because of the money Takeshi had given him left a sour taste in his mouth.

He went into modelling at the age of 13, getting an agent with Takeshi’s money and the vindictive glee that he never would’ve approved of Satoshi doing something as ‘girly’ as modelling. It was also around this time that Asami chose to drop the bombshell that whilst they’d been married, Takeshi had started another family in Saitama and had had two children – and that these children, better suited to Takeshi’s standards of ‘heirs to his business empire’ were part of the reason why he had been away so often.

A year before the end of middle school, Satoshi was unexpectedly contacted by a boy called Kazuki – the eldest of the Takeshi’s two children from the affair. After initially refusing to reply, Satoshi and Kazuki eventually began writing to eachother and Satoshi was surprised to find that the younger boy and his little sister were growing on him. Their father was never discussed. Satoshi now views them as his close friends though they have never met face to face. Kazuki has agreed that when he takes over as CEO, the company will sponsor Satoshi for his modelling career – something Satoshi grudgingly agreed to after Kazuki clarified that by that point it would be his company, not his father’s and that he had nothing to do with the decision.

When middle school ended, Satoshi left Yokohama with his mother and headed to Ikebukuro, where his mother had gotten a job working at the Yagiri Pharmaceutical Company as a secretary. Left unsure of what to do, but still bitter at Takeshi’s ‘betrayal’, he decided to use the money to further his modelling career and go to a ‘normal’ school instead – hence Raira.

Close relationships: Kazuki Miyamoto (14), Sakura Miyamoto (11), Atsushi Oshiro (best friend at middle school - 17)

Personality: Satoshi by default seems rather withdrawn and serious and perhaps a little lost, like he’s waiting for someone to give him directions to somewhere he’s meant to go, but he’s not sure where he’s going or why he’s waiting in the first place.
He seems arrogant, stuck-up and stand-offish at first, mainly because Raira is so much different to anything he’s ever been to before and he’s still struggling from the culture shock. His pride would never allow him to ask for help unless absolutely neccessary.

Satoshi is a good person at heart, but his inability to drop grudges is ultimately his downfall – still tied to this need to ‘one-up’ his father somehow – his father who has most likely forgotten about his very existence and doesn’t care for this ‘game’ Satoshi is determined to win because as far as he’s concerned there never was one between them to start with.

Everything Satoshi is and does and hopes to be is at least partly linked around ‘winning’, stuck at the very centre of who he is and the seat of the rage that lets rip when he feels like he’s failing at something.
As such, he’ll accept constructive criticism because it will make him better, but an insult or a direct attack on who he is as a person will make him angry.

Satoshi angry or pissed off isn’t pleasant – it’s not so much ‘vending machine to the chest’ as ‘concentrated acid spat in your face’. It’s cold, bitter and almost cruel in its apathy and complete disregard for your feelings.

The flip-side of this is if Satoshi likes you or genuinely cares about you. As people who are nice and friendly to him without an ulterior motive are hard to come by (according to him), Satoshi will happily shower these people with affection and protect them from anyone that would even think about harming them. He will do anything to keep these people close, anything to make them happy, and perhaps it’s this that might still have the power to change his views before it’s too late.

Current occupation (if applicable): First year Raira Academy Student, occasionally takes time out to go off on modelling shoots - as with his middle school, these are known by the school as just being time when he's 'off sick' (the fact he really was a sickly child when younger helped with the plausibility of this, and he's only gone for a couple of days at a time usually). This makes it harder to keep up with schoolwork, but his hard-working nature means the teachers are willing to cut a tiny bit of slack (not too much though). Fitting the two together is getting harder now though as both his modelling career is taking off and the work is getting harder; slowly realising that he may eventually be forced to choose between his two goals - proving he's not a lost cause and that he can achieve something at school, and making himself famous and well-known so when he gets to the top he can throw the money back in his father's face and move on because he'll have enough of his money that he won't need to have anything to do with him ever again.

Gang (if applicable): Dollars. He sees joining a gang as his way of rebelling against his parents and slowly breaking away from what he used to be to become his own person.

Describe your character in three words: Vain, Prideful, Good-Hearted

If your character were stranded on an island and could only bring two things with them, what would they be?: A lighter, and a phone to call someone to get him off said island. Once it was established there is no signal on said island, he’ll most likely through the phone into the ocean in a fit of rage.

If your character could change anything about themselves, what would they change?: For him to get a little muscle so he’d stop looking quite so girly and would be able to walk like a normal person.

Your character opens their fridge; what do they see?: It’s probably empty if it was his own apartment. I don’t think it’d occur to him to do it – someone else has always done it for him.

Strengths: His willpower to carry on trying at something even if he doesn't get it right the first time (can become a weakness where it gets to the point that he refuses to give up and walk away and ends up hurting himself in his continued attempts to get it right), decent grades (but not fantastic), quite artistic (he’s designed a few of the outfits for his shoots before). Accomplished pianist.

Weaknesses: Vain to the point that it can take AGES for him to get ready before going out, holds grudges for a long time and has a habit of basing his entire life around setting them straight. Spoilt so rotten I doubt the guy even knows how to use a washing machine. Very temperemental. Prone to jealousy. Ridiculously prideful. Pretty poor social skills - virtually no street smarts due to his nice, safe cushty life that he got used to.

Likes: When he turns heads as he walks down the street because he looks good, his job, talking to those important to him and making sure they’re OK, apples, pastries, cats, movies, succeeding at something

Dislikes: Needles for anything other than clothes making, mould, dogs, when the weather can’t make up its damn mind and he realises he’s gotten on the wrong outfit for the weather

Fears/Insecurities: Quite low self-confidence – he’s not sure he’d ever be good enough for anyone because he’s still not good enough for his parents (he hopes to change that). The very thought of failing at something he's actually put some degree of effort into (social; in terms of being rejected by someone he actually likes/has grown attached to, as well as workwise - this extends to just about all aspects of his life). He can be quite tentative at hesitant about trying things he's not sure he'd succeed at - preferring to not bother at all than to give up on something half-way through. If he starts something, he'll aim to see it all the way through.

Driving force: The need to prove that he can be successful at something even though his father thinks he’s useless and a bit of a sissy. Maybe then his parents will finally acknowledge him as being worth something.

Hobbies: Playing piano, making origami paper cranes, working on outfit ideas and looking through magazines, drawing and sketching 'random things', chatting over IM.

Only a couple of things I could find here

  • He would need permission to have a job as a high school student and the only time this would occur is in extreme situations, i.e. they need to work so that family can eat, as he's wealthy he would not get permission so please explain whether he's doing it secretly or lying to the school to work.

  • Aside from that he has too many strengths and his weaknesses don't quite balance them out so please remove a couple strengths or add a few more weaknesses

  • You also forgot the Fears/Insecurities and Hobbies sections as some of the things you listed in weaknesses were insecurities, not weaknesses.

Aside from that he looks good and I can't wait to see what he looks like with the adjustments~ He sounds like he will be fun to rp with~
